This is my vlog discussing how I feel my creative process is going so far, evaluating whether I have achieved my starting objectives and talking about any challenges that I have faced.
This vlog is very professional, and come across as really confident. I like the way you have discussed your corrections from previous creative tasks, in which you want to show in your final piece. You have identified your starting objectives well, and it seems as if you have achieved them all. It's really interesting how you have incorporated particular adjectives into your routine. I am looking forward to seeing your final choreography piece. Well done Daisy.
This is a great vlog Daisy, well done! At the start of your vlog, you spoke about how there is more room to improve your dynamics and performance, how will you do this? And why do you think the performance will be effective to the audience?
Thankyou Megan. I would like to do this by watching back my studio performance and highlighting areas where my expression seems to be lost or lacking impact. This will help me to focus on where in my dance I need to really push my facial expressions and perhaps help to find opportunities where I can pause, look out and engage with the audience. To improve the dynamics of my piece, I want to ensure that I completing each movement to its' limit - for example holding each extension until the very last count and using my plie as deeply as possible.
I really enjoyed this vlog Daisy and i feel like it is very well executed. Well done. It is really beneficial how you have gone into detail on the outcomes of the previous sessions. You have mentioned particular adjectives within your vlog. How has including these helped with your choreography?
Thankyou Abi. By having these adjectives in mind throughout the choreographic process, it has ensured that all of my movements have intent and purpose behind them which relate back to my stimulus. They have also helped to give me inspiration where I felt stuck with my choreography, as I was able to generate different ways of symbolising each of the adjectives through my movement, as well as encouraging me to use my facial expressions to convey each adjective and emotion.
This is an excellent vlog daisy, you show such confidence throughout which is really great well done. You clearly discuss about the creative process you have used and your starting objective when creating this piece. I love how you have included snippets of your choreography within your vlog creating a very professional manner. do you think you will use any of your chosen practitioners techniques when creating more choreography in the future?
Thankyou Bella. Since reviewing Dance Piece #2 by Crystal Pite, I hope to include some sharper, more precise and impactful dynamics in my choreography, in order to contrast the fluid and expansive movement that I have previously been inspired by. This will be seen in the section of my choreography which alludes to some form of abuse or trauma, as the music becomes more eerie and haunting.
This vlog was very professional and clear to understand. I find it interesting how you mentioned you have made a time schedule to keep yourself productive in lesson time. Maybe you could include a photo of this or explain your schedule further.
Thankyou Sadie. In my schedule, I planned to choreograph around 1 minute 20 seconds per week, which would ensure that I had finished the duration of my music by the time it was our studio performance. This would then leave me with one more session to refine and enhance my work before our assessment.
In today’s lesson we researched two other key practitioners - Wayne McGregor and Crystal Pite. We analysed videos showing their choreographic processes (Rehearsing Genus), (Can art affect change?) and this inspired us to try another creative task using their methods. I was particularly inspired by their attention to detail throughout their choreography and the intense and thorough thought process behind each of the movements that they created. In this task we had to recreate the movement of rain on a window. When watching the video of this, we considered how a singular rain droplet would move, any sudden changes in speed as a raindrop ran down the window, or the patterns created when different raindrops connected with each other. To begin with, we improvised on our own, thinking about the fluid movements of a singular raindrop. I found this quite difficult because our inspiration for the movement was very abstract and it was challenging to have to little interaction when...
At the start of this process, I set out to create a powerful and emotive piece based around Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), looking at the feelings created for the affected person due to the symptoms that they have to face. I believe that I achieved my aim of showing feelings of security contrasted with uncertainty and desperation for stability, as each of my movements were created with these feelings in mind. In my final performance, I challenged myself with my projection of emotions, as I attempted to show much more distress and confusion through my expression, which hopefully helped to convey my message to the audience in an engaging way. Although I became lost at what came next at one stage of my choreography, I was proud that I managed to pick it up again and confidently continued with my solo. Ultimately, I enjoyed the performance experience, and felt that the nerves and adrenaline that came with having an audience to be very beneficial, as it pushed me to complete my piece...
